How lucky can I Get???

Really, I apologize for perhaps a "boring" post for the most of you but really, I just spent the evening with my sisters (plus husband, plus boyfriends plus friends) and in in addition to the fact that I was fed an amazingly delicious meal (thank you E!,) it was just so great to get back to spending time with my sisters!

S, T, parents & the gparents- there are no words- I LOVE YOU!

Message to T: gear up! Next weekend: PINEAPPLE CHALLENGE (Team: "Life of Three")  Jude- this is for you!!!

A Little Bit Vintage, A Little Bit Greek, A Whole Lot of Fun

As devoted readers have well, read… I have been gradually counting down the weddings of two of my best friends (ok- I might say that a lot because I’ll admit, I am very lucky to be surrounded in life by wonderfully solid, supportive and overall amazing girl friends!!!)

The Bride was adorned in a cream, lace dress which aside from being breathe taking, also fit this beautiful bride’s personality perfectly. The bridesmaids (all 6 of us + MOH) wore floor length, midnight blue gowns- we got to choose our dress. To match her “borrowed” fur stole (from her grandmother), the bride surprised each bridesmaid with a cute little stole of her own. (Not worn down the aisle.)

The Girls

MOH and the Bride

The Boys

ANYHOW- this weekend was one of two weddings I will be partaking in this year. On Saturday, April 21st, 2012 KE & her incredible fiancĂ© (now husband) wed in a gorgeous ceremony at a Greek Orthodox Church here in Montreal. I was slightly nervous about how my feet would hold up throughout a long ceremony however, I guess I just got caught up in the moment and the ceremony was over before I knew it! And then the party started…

Dancing

Drinking

Cigars

The party was great! Aside from the usual reasons that make weddings enjoyable- good food, tasty drinks and lots of dancing) KE & S’s wedding had those extra little touches- The always popular candy table, a super fun photo booth & the hit of the evening…

the midnight baby POUTINES!!!

Here’s to KE & S- A beautiful couple, amazing friends & phenomenal hosts!

Love u both

Just Keep Swimming

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone! Wednesday means it's officially mid-week and that we're this close to the weekend. That may be why I'm in a good mood this morning. Or, it could be that T and I have started another jogging season and I am finally getting back in shape after the long winter months. Don't get me wrong... I love all the 'staying inside with a glass of wine and a movie' that we get to do in the winter... but what I don't love is the extra 5 pounds that comes with all the time we spend inside. I am definitely not the 'outdoorsy type', but I love running outside. Nothing beats an after-work jog in the sun (though it's been grey and rainy the past few days).

With all that being said, another motivation that keeps me going is opening up my drawer and seeing all the colorful bikinis in there that I will soon have to wear. Ahhh yes, the dreaded bikini season is almost upon us. Well, that alone is enough 'gymspiration' for me! I've been jogging almost everyday and I'm starting to feel great! I am already noticing some changes, so I just have to keep it up and I'll be bikini ready in no time... or at least "well this is as good as it's going to get" in no time. Though I have quite the extensive bikini collection, I love to look online at all the new bikini trends for this season. I have included some that I found to be quite original. As always, you can click on the name of the product to be brought to the website where it is sold. Enjoy!

This is the Just Cavalli Bandeau Bikini Set in Tropical. I love the colors and the print of this bathing suit; it reminds me of being on some beautiful beach in the Caribbean.
This Just Cavalli Cutout Swimsuit in Tribal Print is just so original. Though I find cutout bathing suits highly impractical given the tan lines they would give you, I think that any girl who has the body to rock one... should own one. I, however, need a few more months of jogging :)
I absolutely adore this Eda Hidden Under-wire Bandeau Bikini in Navy partly because it's navy and I love navy.. but also because of the gold accents on both the top and the bottom. I love a solid bikini with a little extra something... though you have to be careful in the sun as gold can get hold and leave you with a burn.
Buyers Beware! We all know that buying a white bathing suit is taking a chance... no one wants to come out of the pool only to realize that their bathing suit is virtually see-through, leaving them completely exposed! I read the reviews though, and it seems that this Chloe Gold Scallop Triangle Bikini is not going to leave you completely exposed. Phew!
Well this is a throwback to my childhood if I've ever seen one. I included this Asos Contrast Polka-Dot Swimsuit for the sole reason that, when I saw it, I had a flash of my two-year-old-self standing, wearing a polka dot bikini and heart-shaped sunglasses filling up my backyard ninja turtles pool. All that to say that this bathing suit is absolutely adorable. If I was in the market for a throwback bathing suit.. this would be it.
Now, because I hear Mama H's voice in the back of head saying 'all of these bathing suits are too young!', I've included a grown up version of the Asos polka-dot bathing suit that I happen to find very attractive. Though they have chosen to put a young model on their website (a mistake if you ask me), I think this Gap Polka-Dot Bandeau One Piece very classy. I think it can be worn by any age women and it is also a very flattering cut. Sometimes I find swimsuits for older women to be a bit dull, but honestly, the Gap has really got a winner with this one. And, if you find the polka-dot too young, it also comes in solid colors.

Well that's it for my swimsuit review. I could included dozens of other ones but since it's not even May yet... I have some time! Before I go, we at Life of Three would like to wish a Very Happy Birthday to our Uncle G. We are very lucky to have such a great uncle who is so much fun to be around. I hope you have a great day and an even more amazing year.

Have a great day everyone!
With Love,
S

Grazie

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone! I know... I know... the three of us here at lifeofthree have become LBs and I apologize for it. As I've mentioned over the past few weeks, we've had a lot of personal stuff going on that has made it difficult for us to find time to post. Add that to the disgusting weather we've been having and it makes for a pretty boring post. As the warmer weather arrives, however, I promise that we will be out and about and doing more exciting posts about all the exciting things we will be doing.

One thing I shouldn't have been lazy about, was doing a Birthday Shoutout to my Boyfriend E. He celebrated his 30th birthday on Sunday and I didn't want to embarrass him with a post... but what the heck! I should have! Oh well... next year :) We celebrated by having a dinner on Saturday night and he had an absolutely great time. So thank you to everyone who showed up to help us celebrate E's very special day. We ate, we drank, we danced... It was just so much fun. Because I didn't post on his birthday, because he will always be young at heart... and because we are so into SomeEcards right now, I decided to post this one for his belated birthday post.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say a giant THANK YOU to everyone who has so generously donated to our team for the Montreal Pineapple Challenge. Your support has been incredible and we truly appreciate everyone who has shared the link, passed it on, donated, and spread the word. It really means a lot to us and we thank you thank you thank you! I won't single anyone out, but we've had some very generous donations from some very generous people. If you would like to share the link or donate, you can visit our team page by clicking here

Also, because of the interest that was shown when the event was featured on TeamBuy, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has decided to do a 3 day registration reduction on SwarmJam. The registration fee is half price, but you only have two more days so you've gotta move fast. To score this sweet deal, you can do so by clicking here. Feel free to share our link or the SwarmJam one with friends and family.

It's work time, so I better get going but, as I said... we promise more posts soon! We thank all of our generous donators and wish you all a great day.

With Love,
S

Support Life Of Three

Good Friday Morning Everyone! I started writing this post... and then spilled my coffee all over my desk. That's just the kind of day I'm having. Though it started out so-so, I went my monthly inspirational breakfast this morning and it was absolutely amazing. It was a husband and wife who started an organization called Kulam. They build wells and schools in Ethiopia and they were just absolutely incredible to listen to. I will be doing a full post on them next week, but if you're interested in their story (which is definitely a must read) then click here, or visit www.Kulam.ca.

The reason for my post this morning, is that I have FINALLY registered E and I for the Pineapple Challenge and have set up our Life of Three Team Page. You can click here to learn more about the cause or read about it in this post I did last week. You can go on My Team Page to donate to our team, or just to check it out to see how we are doing. You're support is much appreciated and we look forward to being able to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada with this amazing event.

On a completely different note... my day has taken a bit of a negative turn and I am set on turning it around. So, I visited the SomeEcard website and I came across this card that really cheered me up.

Sister in law K had showed it to us when we were in Toronto visiting, and when I came across it again, I just couldn't help but laugh. Too funny. Thought I would share it with you to make you smile on this rainy Friday morning.

Have a great day and a great weekend!
With Love,
S

Another Day... Another Protest

Good Morning Everyone! I hope everyone's week is going well and that you are all ready for another weekend. I have to say... this has been another slow week for me and I am happy it is almost Friday. I think it has been a difficult week for many people in MTL as it has been another week full of disruptions resulting from the ongoing student protests that have taken over our city for the past few months. If you aren't from MTL, or even from Canada, then you may not be aware of the battle that is going on in our city over a rise in tuition. Despite the fact that Quebec has the lowest tuition fees in the country, students have been out of class for 10 weeks now fighting the $325 per year increase over the next five years which will bring the total to $3,800 per year (which is still much lower than all the other provinces). Without getting too much into the politics of it, you can read that by clicking here or here ... the students have now turned their 'peaceful protests' into angry and downright dangerous acts of violence.

Picture from Globe and Mail

From throwing bags of bricks on the subway tracks, forcing them to be shut down for hours, to gas bombs in the subway tunnels, the protests have taken an ugly turn. As someone who works in downtown Mtl, not a day goes by when my day isn't disrupted by these students. Now, I'm all about people standing up for what they believe in... but these students are blocking public transport, access to office towers and main downtown streets. They are keeping the hard-working taxpayers, the very same taxpayers who are paying their taxes to subsidies their tuition from actually getting to work (and in turn make money to pay their taxes).

Picture from Canada.com

Something doesn't seem right here. Someone didn't think this through. Unfortunately, these few are giving a face to the many and are giving these protests a bad name. They have lost the support and the sympathy of the people and the police are now routinely having to step in to break up the violence. Furthermore, the students who actually do want to attend classes are not being able to and they will now have to attend school into the summer... which will cause most of them to lose their summer jobs as well as possible careers. The best part of all of this is that most of these protesters wear masks or bandannas to cover their faces... Seems to me, if I was fighting for something I believed it, I would be proud to stand there and show my face. But that's just me.

Picture from Canada.com
This morning, after enjoying a great early morning breakfast with my dad, we left the restaurant to see the street swarming with police. I went in a different direction than my father, but he called me to let me know the students were out and to be careful. I was worried at first, but then saw that there were police officers on every single street corner and knew they wouldn't bother me. More taxpayers money being wasted. When is this going to stop?

Update: In case you were interested, here is the article on this mornings protest.

Last Chance

Good Morning Everyone! Since it's Monday morning I have a bit of a hectic morning finishing up everything that came in to be done Friday after I had left. I will do another post later on about my weekend, but wanted to make sure that everyone knew that TODAY is the last day to get the 2 for 1 deal on teambuy for the Montreal Pineapple Challenge. As I've mentioned a few times, this cause is very important to my sisters, my family and I. We have experienced the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's work first hand and it is with events such as this one that they are able to do such incredible work. With this being said, I ask you one last time to share this TeamBuy link on your facebook, twitter, blog, through email... any way you can. If you aren't able to donate or to be part of this amazing event, then share it any way you can. Every little bit helps. E and I have registered for the event and I will be sharing information on how you can donate to our team later today... but for now, please share this post as well as the Team Buy Link so that we can get the word out.

We at the Life of Three thank you. Your support means a lot to us.
With love,
S

Two For One

Oh My Goodness... I am so happy that it is FINALLY FRIDAY! As we all know, I love the weekend and it makes me so happy that I get to sleep in and have a bit of time to myself. As is usually the case, both E and I will have to work a little this weekend, but at least we won't have to be up at 6. That makes me happy. It is an especially good Friday today because I have not one, but two things to be celebrating. I love me a good celebration... especially if it means I get to have champagne.

First off, it's my Aunt T's 50th birthday today! Though she lives out West and we only get to see her every once in a while, we always have a great time when we are together and we absolutely love getting to see her. She is fun, loving and has a great sense of humor. I wish we got to see her more, but I guess it is our turn to visit! So Happy Birthday Aunt T, we hope you have a great day and an amazing 50th year.

At Tracy's Wedding in Montreal with my Cousin A

Secondly, I want to congratulate my amazing boyfriend E who had his last exam today and has finished his program at the Montreal Aerospace School. He has worked so hard, waking up early every day and hardly missing any classes. I am so proud of how well he has done and I know he is going to be amazing at his job. He is so supportive when it comes to my work and everything, so I hope I have been as supportive to him as he has been to me. Congratulations E!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Summer Of The Skirt

Good Morning Everyone! I know I know... we promised not to slack on blogging and we have been. I'm sorry. We have had a lot going on in our personal lives and it has been hard to sit down and post. I am trying to get back into it though and regain the momentum we had going before life got in the way.

I am so happy that today is Thursday because I am exhausted and need the weekend. T and I went for an after-work run yesterday which I thoroughly enjoyed, but am feeling in my legs today. I guess I should have stuck around longer for the post-run yoga :)

Despite the fact that I have promised myself I wouldn't shop and will be doing my absolute best to save in the next few months... I have been browsing the stores at lunch and admiring all the beautiful colors in the window displays. I am loving all the hot pinks, corals, mint greens... I think that Spring/Summer 2012 is going to be one of the best seasons yet and I am going to have to find creative ways to bring some color into my wardrobe (leopard print doesn't count as color, does it?).

Another thing that is popping up EVERYWHERE are skirts. They are literally on every mannequin and in every window. I love skirts and dresses in the summer because of how easy they are to throw on and dress up. Here are some of my favorites from Zara. As always, you can click on the name of the item to be brought to the site.

Skirt With Mini Frill. I love this skirt and wish I didn't have big hips because I would love to be able to wear this. Unfortunately, this is made for girls with very little in the hip area as it accentuates and adds a little bulk to that area... which I do not need thank you very much.
This Long Skirt With Splits in Coral is one of my favorite for the season. I love how long and flowy it is and the color is spot on. It can be paired with flats for a summer drink on a Terrace, or with heels for a night out in July. This skirt is absolutely beautiful.
Zara Embroidered Mini Skirt. Now I know this skirt is too short for work, it is so cute and playful and would look great with a tan.
This Zara Embroidered Tulle Skirt is so feminine and girly... I picture myself sitting in a field of daisies having a picnic in this skirt.
Zara Embroidered Mini Skirt with Sequins.. we all know how I feel about sparkly clothes...
I really don't like that they paired this Zara Black Lace Skirt with high-tops and a denim shirt because I think it is such a pretty skirt and could be dressed up to be very pretty.

They did the same thing with this Zara Skirt with Asymmetric Hem in Mint. In my opinion, the skirt is not meant to be paired with punk boots and a sloppy sweater, and they could have dressed it up to make it look a lot nicer. I have it in black and absolutely love it. It is so versatile and I wore it while in the Bahamas and got lots of compliments.

No matter your style, whether you like them short, long, or asymmetrical, this summer there will be a skirt for every taste. Better get your legs bronzed and looking smooth ladies because I have a feeling they will be on display a lot this summer! I better go on another jog tonight :)

Have a great day!

S

Do You Like A Challenge?

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone! I hope everyone had a great long weekend and got to spend some time with family and friends. We had an AMAZING weekend in Oakville and I want to say an  extra big THANK YOU to Chania for hosting the whole thing and making it so special for all of us. She really went above and beyond and welcomed us all into her home with open arms. I couldn't have asked for a nicer Easter Weekend, so thank you.

I come to you this week with very exciting news! Because they want the first ever Montreal Pineapple Challenge to be the best one yet, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada has teamed up with Team Buy to offer a ONE WEEK ONLY SPECIAL ON REGISTRATION FOR THE PINEAPPLE CHALLENGE!!! This week only, you and your team can go on the teambuy.ca to register your team for only $25. I encourage you to send this to friends, family members, co-workers... everyone you know! As I've mentioned before, this is a cause that us here at the Life of Three hold very dear to our hearts. It would mean the world to us if you could do anything you can to help make this event the best it can be.

With Love,

Another Birthday Shout-Out

Spring babies are popular. Maybe it's the nice weather, the change in scenery with the flowers blooming or just the excitement of summer - whatever the reason, it is a busy time of year for birthdays!

Today is another VERY SPECIAL person's birthday.  My sisters and I would like to wish my lovely, wonderful MIL a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. C is creative, kind and would do anything for her kids. Not to mention the awesome writer of Razmataz Blog! For someone who does so much for others, I hope she gets the day to relax and enjoy herself!!

We will be leaving after work to visit the family in Oakville and we couldn't be more excited. We always have such a great time and appreciate the time we all get to spend together.

With Love,
Life of Three

Wuthering Heights

Good Monday Morning Everyone! I hope that everyone had a nice weekend and that you got to relax, at least a little. I had a busy weekend, but took it easy at night which was nice. I am so happy that this week is a four day week and that T, B, E and I will be heading to Toronto this weekend to meet up with B's family for Easter Weekend. We always have so much fun when we go there and I cannot wait. Last time we visited was for T and B's engagement party (I cannot believe it has been that long) but here are a few photos of what may or may not have happened on our last visit.

Impromptu dance party the night before the engagement party that left us all a little... tired the next day. I don't know what is up with our questionable moves, but I can tell you that this year.. any dance party we will be having will for sure include this dance.

Sister love at the Firehall. I hope we get to grab a drink there because no visit to Oakville is complete without one

We just always laugh a lot and have an amazing time. We miss K when we are not with her, so it is so great that we are going to get to spend a whole weekend with her in TO. The five of us, along with amazing friend P who we miss very much, will be going to the Raptor's game on Friday and I can't wait. I haven't been to a basketball game in years and I know we will have an awesome time. Too bad we couldn't get a 7th ticket because, who knows... the Raptor's may have wanted to draft him despite his apparent drinking problem.

Henry are you excited?!?

Now I know it's Monday and a lot of people aren't in the best of moods, but I have the perfect way to turn your Monday frown upside down. My best friend LB, who also happens to be the funniest gal I know, made a cover music video of Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights". For those of you who don't know Kate, she was a 70's and 80's British Rock Star who's music and dancing were a little.. different. Well, Lauren made my day when she sent me these videos so I hope you take the time to watch them. Honestly, I promise it will make you laugh. She always knows how to cheer me up.

Here is Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights", watch at least a few seconds of it to see what it's about.

LB is the greatest friend a girl could ask for, and it helps that she also has the best sense of humor I've ever seen. Unfortunately, she lives in Toronto but will be in Montreal while I am there    :( so we'll just have to schedule another weekend to be together. Miss you sister.

Have a happy Monday!
With Love,
S
