One Day My Prince Will Come And I Will Say... Nothing

Good ... Umm what day is it? Sunday Afternoon Everyone! Something that tends to happen when you are on vacation is that you really lose track of time. Not just time of day, but day altogether. Because you don't have anywhere to be, meetings to attend, emails to answer... since you're schedule is pretty much free, you tend to take off your watch and just be. Which is amazing. Well, I have decided to sit down before heading to dinner to do a much needed blog post. There is so much to say and so much to share, but I will only share this for the day.

As T mentioned, we decided to go into town because Prince Harry was going to be making an appearance. Since the sun was shinning and the pool looked so inviting, we lost a few of the troops before departure. But T, Miss D, K and I decided that we would make the treck into town on the bus to go and get a glimpse of the Prince. Because hey, who knows when the next time you'll get the chance to see a Prince.

K and I were so excited.

We didn't really know what to expect. If you were going to see a Prince back home, we would probably have had to be there hours in advance to wait in lines to get a glimpse of him and since we sat a little too long on the beach in the morning, we were running late and thought we would miss him. We managed to make it just in time to see Harry speak and cut the ribbon for the opening of the Royal Art Exhibit at the Museum.

Look at him in all his glory. He is so regal. Swoon.

After he spoke and cut the ribbon, we thought it was over. We had a few good pictures and were happy we actually got to see him. He walked around for a bit.

And shook some hands...

 And then... it happened...

Yes that's me looking like a total nut in the corner of the picture.
All of a sudden, they cleared the way right where we were standing, and the Prince walked right next to us. I literally could have touched him.

Then he looked RIGHT AT US. I actually made eye contact with him. K and I were so excited (you can see by my face) and it was so quiet, we could have said ANYTHING. So what did we do? We said NOTHING! We stood there wide eyed and wide mouthed and stared. No "We Love You" or "Marry Me Harry" .. just a whole lotta nothin with a side of shock and awe. Now, I am really no Prince Harry Groupie or anything... but I tell ya, all it takes is a Prince to make a girl swoon. And swoon we did. Actually, that's all we did. We left feeling full of excitement and were so happy that we got to see him. It was only after it all sank in that K and I realized we will probably NEVER get that close to a Prince again. It was our one chance and WE BLEW IT! T was our loyal photographer, snapping away the entire time. Lucky we had her there because my mouth wasn't the only thing that wasn't working.. my hands weren't either to snap pictures.

When we got back to the hotel, Mama H said that she was hoping for another royal wedding. We were hesitant to tell her the story, knowing she would call us silly girls and ask us how neither of us could come up with anything to say to the Prince. And that's exactly what she said, and she was right.

Either way we had a great day and this is a story I will probably tell for years and that's all that matters. I don't think I will ever again in my life come face to face with a Prince... but if I ever do... Next time I'll be prepared. Hope you had a royally amazing weekend.

With Love,
S

Bahama Mama

Hello from beautiful Bahamas. We are here with sister K, a couple of friends and our mamas for our annual Girls Getaway. We started the week off right with a round of mimosas (the first of many).

The weather has been wonderful, the resort is lovely and as usual when we are all together, we have been a great time.

There is a new addition to our group this year - Henry the giraffe from Kansas. He has been a hit at this resort with everyone (except for one sour grape). Much more to come on Henry and his adventures later..

For now I wish you all a good day as I get ready to adventure into town. Prince Harry arrived on the island last night and so we are heading into town for his big appearance.

F*** You Flu

Good Saturday afternoon! As my dear sisters are away & probably roasting under the hot sun of the Bahamas, I have begun my week-long Spring Break by nursing a very sick guy back to health. After ginger ale, soda crackers, gatorade, pedialyte, and some Pepto... the ONLY thing that seemed to do the trick was a good old bowl of egg drop soup! Yup- when even water wouldn't stay down (my apologies for the details), egg drop soup did!
I am no Dr. but I think the combo of homemade chicken stock and the freshly grated ginger which both make their way into the soup, helped ease an upset tummy. Best part of this recipe (ok, second best because the settling effects on the stomack wins hands down!) is that it is super quick and easy to make.

EGG DROP SOUP

- 4 cups of chicken broth (homemade is best but store bought will work too)
- 1/4 tps freshly grated ginger
- 2 tps of chopped chives (or green onions)
- 2 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
- salt & pepper, if you want... might not want to add it if the patient's tummy is really upset

Bring 3 1/4 cups chicken broth to a rolling boil (reserve 1/4 cup for later)
Add the ginger and the chives
Mix together cornstrch with the reserved 1/4 cup of broth until smooth, set aside
Beat eggs & yolk together & slowly drizzle into the boiling broth
When the egg is cooked (this happens pretty quickly), stir in the broth & cornstarch mixutre
Let it boil for another minute or two and then serve.

Happy (fluless) weekend to you all!

Let's Compare

Good morning everyone! Happy we're-really-close-to-Friday day!!!
I received a text message yesterday afternoon letting me know that a) they arrived safe and sound and b) it was HOT, HOT, HOT there! (Thanks S- very kind of you...)

Now, I had not allowed myself to look at this prior to their departure because I knew how painful and sad that would have been however, last night, I lost the battle and after enjoying a lovely dinner with two dear, dear friends... I caved! (Honestly it was a sick and twisted situation because throughout dinner I could hear the meteorologist warning us about the snowstorm that was on its way... but still, I wanted to know just how much better their current situation was compared to mine!)

This is what I found...
They arrived in the early afternoon therefore I would assume that they enjoyed a nice cocktail while overlooking the ocean.

Given that it is already 9am- I can guarantee that my mom at least is up, out of bed & securing her lawn chair down on the beach.

Honestly, the two pictures posted above made me jealous but this one is the real doosy! The picture posted below is of the off-resort island which belongs to the Sandals resort... drop me off & leave me there... no problem!!!!

I am sure that my sisters will have gorgeous pictures to post for your viewing pleasure (or their need to brag) upon their return but for the moment- let's live vicariously!!!
Cause living my life right now looks a lot like this...

Much love
